Safari Users, TabStop is the Answer to Your Prayers

February 19, 2007

That Safari has no preference to warn users when quitting or closing a window with multiple tabs open has always pissed me off. After all, Q is right next to W. TabStop to the rescue.

TabStop is a SIMBL plugin that displays a warning when you attempt to quit or close a window in Safari that contains multiple tabs. Very handy, if you’re used to keeping dozens of tabs around and you’re tired of accidentally Command-Q’ing instead of Command-W’ing. TabStop is a Univeral Binary.

Thanks to FreeMacWare for this most excellent tip.

MacHeist: Free Shareware

November 22, 2006

If you’ve got a Mac and like a good mystery, then you should really check out MacHeist.com. It’s an invitation only (email me for invites, I’ve got a few) internet scavenger hunt, with some cool shareware apps as reward for completing the hunt. The list of shareware so far is impressive. In all there are six hunts, though the first one has already finished and the second is currently under way.

One of the shareware items is 1Passwd. 1Passwd is a password manager and form filler for Mac OS X that essentially adds useful functionality to OS X’s built-in Keychain, such as browser integration with Safari, Firefox, Camino and others.
