For occasional feed readers on OS X I'd recommend the RSS reader built-in to Apple's Mail. My wife uses it to get her Lolcats fix and I think the "inbox" analogy with read-only email works really well for those who don't know or care about web feeds. It remains to be seen if <em>reading</em> more will necessarily get you <em>writing</em> more... it could prove inspiring—or distracting!
