Hhhhuuuuh? You’ll catch cold!
This is that awkward time of year when my laowai blood wants to break out in shorts and t-shirts, but having lived in China long enough to know better I still go out wearing jeans and long sleeves, thus avoiding my students’ collective “Hhhhuuuuh?” by showing up to class dressed, heaven forbid, “differently” than they are.

Wearing shorts and t-shirts during the summer is philanthropic cultural imperialism! It’s too hot in Beijing to mimic Chinese conservatism. =)
