Incorporate Chinese Blogs into Your Chinese Study

One of my favorite methods of Chinese study is to study a Chinese article that has been translated into English by Roland Soong of ESWN. This method is quite effective, because Roland’s translation provides a context for me to understand the article, and moreover, a reference for when the Chinese goes over my head.

Here’s an example of my method in action with an ESWN translation of a Massage Milk post on Super Girl and CCTV:

Get Roland’s translation:

Then get the original copy in Chinese:

After that, for convenience sake, enter each Chinese paragraph into adsotrans one at a time.

The advantage of adsotrans is that you needn’t waste a lot of time looking up characters or words you don’t know in the dictionary.

Finally, copy both the original Chinese article, Roland’s translation and any new and useful vocabulary over to a text editor on your computer and save them to review later.
